Loughton: Former gateway to Debden Hall
This gateway, on the east side of Debden Lane, used to be the main entrance to the now demolished Debden Hall. The gateway is a Grade II Listed Structure and the English Heritage Listed Buildings website describes it thus: "Gateway, C19, formerly to Debden Hall (demolished). Piers of plastered brickwork and stone, gates of wrought iron with small parts of cast iron. 3 rusticated piers approx. 4 metres high with ball finials. Pair of carriage gates each 1.77 metres wide, foot gate 1.17 metres wide. Design consists mainly of scrollwork with stylised fan motifs and foliate termini."
