Royd Lane, Ripponden
I suspect that this is the oldest route out of Ripponden towards Rochdale, as it is a continuation of the cobbled Priest Lane, which crosses the old bridge. By the late 18C, as shown on Jeffreys's map of Yorkshire, Elland Road and the new bridge had been built and the 'main road' to Rochdale was up Ripponden Old Lane.

Royd Lane car park, Ripponden
The children are just about to come out of the primary school, and many would be met by a parent in a car. The council have recently installed parking meters and imposed charges, so the car park is nearly empty and cars are parked up the narrow lane and on the nearby housing estate road.

The Golden Lion Inn, Halifax Road, Ripponden, Soyland
This is an old pub that has been used for public meetings in the past. I should have taken a close-up picture of some of the grotesque figures on the stone fence posts at the front!

Tree stump, Back Lane, Ripponden. Soyland
This tree must have been a bit dangerous before it was felled - one can imagine the wall disintegrating during a gale.
