Mooring on the canal west of Sowerby Bridge
This looks to be a private, and maybe even unofficial mooring point for the new houses above the canal.

Half-drained Sowerby Cut
The canal has been partially drained to allow a leak to be repaired. This has exposed interlocking concrete blocks that are normally submerged. The steps down to the moored barge are made from old tyres.

Branwell Bront
A wood statue by the canal depicting Branwell, the black sheep of the Brontë family, as well as other landmarks and characteristics of Calderdale.
Branwell was for a couple of years a booking clerk at the nearby Luddendenfoot railway station but left under a cloud.

Branwell Bronte carved statue
This statue of the Bronte sisters' dissolute brother has been carved from a dead tree. It is situated in a leafy picnic area by the side of the Rochdale Canal near Sowerby Bridge. In his right hand is a tankard of strong ale whilst the other holds the bible. To see a close up of the statue click here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1923620

The Friendly Inn, Sowerby Bridge
Friendly is the name of the neighbourhood. This pub is within the old Luddenden Foot boundary, but I think most people would associate it with Sowerby Bridge
