Winding hole, Sowerby Bridge
This new winding hole was thoughtfully provided at the eastern end of the Rochdale Canal, but it did not see a great deal of use - there were then few boats based on the canal, as they could not then get in or out of it at either end, the western limit of navigation being Littleborough, or for practical purposes, Todmorden.
