Town Farm, Queen Street, Sowerby
The fact that a working farm still exists so close to the town centre is a result of Sowerby being an ancient settlement, and also still a small one (although often referred to as 'Sowerby Town' that indicates its historical status as a township, as it is only a moderate size village by modern standards). The scene will not be the same for much longer, as the barn seen here was granted planning permission in May 2020 (Calderdale ref. 19/00769) for conversion to a single 4-bedroom dwelling.
