Duke William Inn, Wade House Road (A6036), Shelf
A large double-pile building that was there before the road was improved and raised by building a retaining wall in 1835. There was a pinfold down by the inn. On the left is an old style of Electricity sub-station, looking like a prefabricated garage.

The pinfold, Shelf
This is on a path down steps from Wade House Road, near to the Duke William Inn. It looks to be rebuilt, conservation work perhaps either by the civic society or by the consortium that bought the lordship of the manor from Lord Savile in 1988.

I haven't managed to established which duke it was named after, but presumably not the present Duke of Cambridge, and the painting appears to show a king.
