The Shoulder of Mutton
The two lower buildings on the right are the original 'Shoulder of Mutton' and its extension. The larger section on the right was built as 'Priestley Hall' but is now part of the Public House.

The Shoulder of Mutton, Northowram
The two parts of the building to the left are original 17th century inn and an extension; to the right is the former Priestley Hall which now forms part of the establishment. Collectively they are grade II listed (list entry 1254049). It is classed as a 'heritage pub' (see shared description).

The Shoulder of Mutton - tap room with pool table
See Image for the exterior of the pub. This is the 'rear tap room', the main reason given by CAMRA for giving the pub 'heritage' status: "the main interest here is ... the matchboarded ceiling ... and what must be some of the oldest wooden bench seating surviving in any pub today".

The Shoulder of Mutton - tap room with fireplace
See Image for the exterior of the pub. This is the 'rear tap room', the main reason given by CAMRA for giving the pub 'heritage' status: "the main interest here is ... the tiled arched fireplace and what must be some of the oldest wooden bench seating surviving in any pub today". I presume the reference to tiles was to decorative tiling inside the fireplace, but it has been blocked up in recent years with plain white tiles and the open fire replaced with an electric heater.

The Shoulder of Mutton - rear dining room
See Image for the exterior of the pub. This is the dining room, in the lower part of the pub formerly known as Priestley Hall, not mentioned in CAMRA's heritage listing but nonetheless interesting for its old iron cooking range, mullioned window and exposed ceiling beams.
