Cross Street West
This street is unusually wide with a central reservation, but is not a dual carriageway, i.e. both sides are for two-way traffic. Cross Street was originally just the left hand side; the right hand side was a later extension of Reservoir Road.

Highgate Methodist church, Stretchgate Lane
Construction of the present church began in 1978. It was designed and built by Lanner Limited of Wakefield. It was extended in 2007. (Source: Malcolm Bull’s Calderdale Companion) It replaced two previous churches including the chapel just up the road Image

The Halfway House, halfway converted
The pub was still open in 2008 Image but had closed by 2022 and was being converted to housing. It was described by CAMRA as 'A large house built in 1932 for Ramsden's brewery by local architects Glendinning and Hanson, and designed with a central lounge, an advance on the old-style drinking lobby, equipped with some seating and containing the main servery'. It was partly 'modernised' in the 1970s but retained some original features until the end.
