Free Grammar School of Queen Elizabeth - Free School Lane
Founded 1585 - rebuilt 1878 - now in commercial use.
Formerly Heath Grammar School. Not quite commercial use nowadays; it's a training centre for teachers, local government staff etc.

Footpath 755 approaching Heath Road, Skircoat, Halifax
This path is in a cutting here, to avoid a steep gradient, and was a driveway to the rear of Halifax Royal Hospital. It is known as 'Dead man's alley' as it was the route taken to take away bodies from the mortuary (now a residence) at the top of the drive.

Heath House Surgery - Free School Lane
This was formerly the home of the Headteacher and, from time to time, other teachers at Heath Grammar School (next door). Eventually it became accommodation for the school's sixth form. In 1985 the school was merged with the former Crossley & Porter Grammar School to become Crossley-Heath School

Lantern turret on the former Heath Grammar School, Halifax
This school is listed, Grade II. It was built in 1878-9 by Joseph and John Leeming. The listing details describe the turret thus: "Set on the ridge in the centre of the roof is a timber double-height lantern with ball finials, and a pointed roof topped by a weather vane."
