St. Nicholas Church & the wreck of the billy boy
In the churchyard of St. Nicholas Church, Withernsea is the grave of Samuel Bowser, his wife Eliza and their niece Martha Elizabeth Sutton who all drowned on 25th October 1859 when the billy boy (a type of sailing boat) on which they were travelling sank in the North Sea close to here.
