Gilberdyke railway station, Yorkshire
Opened in 1840 by the Hull & Selby Railway as "Staddlethorpe", taking its present name in 1974. View west towards Selby and Goole. There used to be four lines through the station and when the outer lines were removed, the platforms were extended inwards - as the width of the footbridge suggests. The old platforms still existed when this image was taken, beyond the ends of the current platforms.

Autumn Sunrise
Gilberdyke Station (originally called Staddlethorpe Station) on the Hull and Selby Railway looking east from the footbridge between platforms. A colourful start to what turned out to be a pretty gloomy day. The Hull and Selby Railway Act was passed in 1826 but the line did not open until 1840. It was absorbed into the North Eastern Railway in 1872.
