Road to Balranald
RSPB reserve on North Uist. Oddly, the brown sign is for the public toilets at the visitor centre. This stretch of road is very good for hearing Corncrakes, and possibly seeing one if you are very lucky or patient.

Meadow Pipit (Anthus pratensis)
One of the commonest small birds in the islands, the Meadow Pipit is also a popular target for Cuckoos. This one, sitting on a barbed wire fence, is obligingly showing off the long hind claws which help in distinguishing it from other pipits.
