Causeway to Broch in Loch an Duna
Sometimes it is possible to cross the short causeway to the Broch. On this occasion the loch was high with recent rain, and waves were breaking over the stepping stones.

Loch an D?na
This pile of stones is the remains of an Iron Age broch. When the level of the loch is low, it is connected to the shore by a short causeway. I do not know why the name of the loch is Loch an Dùna rather than Loch an Dùin, which occurs in other places.

Loch an Duna looking back towards the village
Perhaps a less common view of the broch and village than the standard "tourist" shot this shows the large stones which are common on the shores of the loch. This loch can produce good trout and they are often to be found lying among the stones close in to the shore.

Loch an Duna at Bragar
This was an experimental high dynamic range photo but the colours are real as the sun was setting behind me while a snow shower blew in from the moor and reflected the colours. The loch was entirely frozen over and had snow lying on it.
