Loggin Cottage, Hay-on-Wye
Located on Church Road, near the corner of Brecon Road and Forest Road.
The cottage is built on the site of a toll house demolished in 1895.

Harley's Almshouses, Hay-on-Wye
Located on Church Road, near the start of Brecon Road, these former almshouses date from 1832.
A stone plaque http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1956652 built into the wall records the origin of the almshouses.
Below are a few of the many original stipulations as to who could reside here. Candidates must...
1)...have been residents in the town of Hay or of some other place within the county of Brecon.
2)...be members of the Church of England. Papists (ie Roman Catholics) and Dissenters were specifically stated to be ineligible.
3)...be widows or spinsters of 60 years of age at least.
There were other regulations regarding cleanliness and good behaviour.
