The Old Black Lion Inn, Lion Street
Dating from the 17th century, with some parts dating back to the 1300s. The building bears a blue plaque which informs us that the building is situated close to 'Lion Gate', one of the original entrances to the old town.
A story is told that Oliver Cromwell stayed at the inn whilst the Roundheads besieged the nearby castle.
