Inscription on The White Stone
I can make out the words, 'The rod (road) to Worcester' on this milestone formed from an old wayside cross giving directions to Hereford, Ledbury, Leominster and Worcester. See its roadside position at Image

Old Guide Stone, A423, White Stone, Withington
A guide stone adapted from a wayside cross, with octagonal shaft and square top with chamfered edges; leaded holes that perhaps once held crosslets. The eroded lettering on three sides states: "This is the road to Hereford" , "This is the Road to Worcester", and a partial date of 17xx. Possibly originally a Roman milestone, near the Kenchester military road, inscribed LEG. Carved stone post by the A4103, in parish of WITHINGTON (District), Whitestone House, White Stone Cross, in hedge on narrow verge, South side of road. White Stone, Withington
White Stone is on the side of the A4103 at Withington. According to the British Listed Buildings website http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-154169-the-white-stone-and-fragment-of-base-imm the inscribed shaft with base is believed to date from around 1700 though it is difficult to be precise.
