Roland Callingham Memorial at Bekonscot Model Village
This photo shows the memorial stone to Roland Callingham who in the mid-1920s bought several parcels of land, dug a pond, built a few model houses, to which a friend, James Shilcock, added a model railway. Roland Callingham later called the village Bekonscot, 'Bekon' meaning 'beech trees' from 'Beaconsfield' and 'scot' from 'Ascot' the two places where he had lived. The wording on the stone is as below: ROLAND R CALLINGHAM 1879 to 1961 Founder & Creator of BEKONSCOT 1929

This photo shows four information boards at Bekonscot Model Village. They were produced by the British Sundial Society and refer to the sundial that used to be located at Enid Blyton's home 'Green Hedges' in Penn Road, Beaconsfield.

Information Boards at Bekonscot Model Village (1)
This photo shows three information boards which have been produced by The British Sundial Society. They refer to the sundial that used to be located at Green Hedges, 42 Penn Road, Beaconsfield, HP9 2LT. This was the home of the children's writer Enid Blyton from 1938 until her death in 1968, after which the house was demolished.
