High Street, Berkhamsted in 1965
Probably taken by standing on the traffic lights island in the middle of the road, at the junction of Lower Kings Road (to the left). One of the cars waiting for the traffic lights to turn is a bubble car (nearest to the keep left bollard).

The surfaces have been smartened up so the overall ambiance is good.

Prince Edward Street, Berkhamsted
This street was formerly called Snob's Alley. It still bears a rather run-down appearance as it did in 1966 see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1763981

Costa Coffee Shop, High Street, Berkhamsted
If I had taken the building from the same position as in 1963 see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1576205 the frontage would have been obscured by the tree that has been planted in front of it. Another loss to the town has been the Woolworths store.

Berkhamsted High Street, 1963
The attractive building to the right of Woolworth's stood on the corner of Water Lane. It was demolished in 1964. The two shops in view were Colletts, which may have been a restaurant and Ye Wool Shoppe, which may have sold balls of wool and woollen garments; they were both vacant premises.
