Recently completed garage in 1954
In the garden of Appledore, 35 Montague Road taken by my father George Baker. He also built open-fronted stores for coke and coal to fuel the house's boiler and grates respectively and these can be seen between the garage and the shed. Then he constructed a swing for me, which would certainly not pass today's Health and Safety rules!

The area of garden nearer to the camera was sold for building in 1966 see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1756312 for £2000. Unfortunately it incurred a land tax of 40%. On 16 January 1967 we moved from here to the Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1775390

Rover 100 in 1966
Parked in the driveway of Appledore, 35 Montague Road. Owned by my father and kept in an immaculate condition but, even so, was of no interest to any private buyer when he came to sell it in November 1967. Therefore it was sold to a garage for a nominal price. The car's number plate was 347 AXT.
