The Centre's ecclesiastical origins are obvious here. The 1926 Edition of the Ordnance Survey's mapping shows this building as a chapel. See http://www.hertsdirect.org/comdirectory/comvol/venue2y/vncomm3y/518714 for details of how to hire it.

Frogmore Mills - Fourdrinier paper machine
This site was the first in the UK to use the Fourdrinier machine (not this one) and this remains in use and driven by a steam engine. This is the wet end of the machine with the drying rolls beyond.

Frogmore Mills - wheel pits
This site was the first in the UK to use the Fourdrinier paper machine. It was originally water powered by wheels in this location but now has a reciprocating steam engine to operate its more recent Fourdrinier machine. Note a football is trapped in the flow, bottom left of centre.

Frogmore Mills - process plant
This preserved paper mill is still making recycled paper using a Fourdrinier machine driven by a steam engine. This was the first site in the UK to use a machine of this type and is of great historical significance. There are regular public guided tours of this site.
