Fishing on the canal
Is it me or have herons become bolder in the last few years. A decade ago this one would have flown away long before our boat drew parallel with it. This one just stayed on the bank and let us pass. As can be seen, this is a very urban area anyway for a heron to be waiting to catch its next meal.

River Bulbourne joined by River Gade over-flow channel
The point at which the waters of the Gade and the Bulbourne meet is difficult to find, and underwhelming when you do find it. The Gade flows into the Grand Union Canal and the excess water is taken along a channel behind some old cottages to join the Bulbourne here. The channel is under the willow tree.

Over-flow of River Gade on Grand Union Canal
The River Gade joins the canal about 100 metres West of here, and the excess water is taken off here to flow behind a row of cottages and into the River Bulbourne.

64 - 68 (evens) Lawn Lane, Hemel Hempstead
Three houses, all different in size and arrangement, with areas and basements. Some way behind was a wharf area (now filled in) on the Grand Union Canal - it may be that these were associated.
