Byway on the County Boundary ? crossed by a footpath
This is the fourth of a series of pictures following the byway Image down the slope. At this point a footpath, towards West Leith and Tring, crosses the byway and the path, cut in the side of the holloway, demonstrates the depth to which it has been eroded by wear and tear over the years.

Byway on County Boundary ? the Holloway gets even deeper
This is the third of a series of pictures following the byway Image down the slope. At this stage the holloway must be about 25 feet deep on the up-slope side. The pronounced “V” shape make it totally unsuitable for wheeled traffic – and the depth makes it impractical to widen it to a point where wheeled traffic could use it.
