Glade, Aldbury Common
The section of Ashridge Forest to the east of Aldbury is known as Aldbury Common. There are many paths, bridleways and tracks to explore - or you can just wander among the trees. Lovely glades such as this are a common sight (if you'll excuse the pun).

Shafts of sunlight illuminate the way
This footpath and bridleway to the east of Aldbury was being illuminated by shafts of sunlight beaming through the canopy of overhanging trees.

Path and bridleway, east of Aldbury
Helpfully for walkers there is a raised footpath on the left here that runs alongside the far less human-foot-friendly bridleway. I was actually walking in the opposite direction to this view, turning round to take this shot. This footpath climbs steadily and not particularly steeply into the woods of Ashridge to the east of Aldbury.

Aldbury - Malting Lane
A path descends from the hairpin at the top of Toms Hill to the southeast of Aldbury back into the village, rejoining the metalled road at the end of Malting Lane. This view is from the bottom of the path looking along Malting Lane towards the rest of Aldbury village.
