St Michael & All Angels, Halton
The Church of St. Michael & All Angels was built in 1813 in a poor adaptation of a 13th century style. It was restored and remodelled in 1886-7. It is on the site of an earlier church, whose registers go back to the early 17th century, but which was much older, and a brass from the old church has been reset in the chancel. A list of former rectors goes back to 1290 http://met.open.ac.uk/genuki/big/eng/BKM/Halton/rectors.html . The church is a Grade II listed building http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=42649&mode=quick and extensive information on the church and the village are published in the Victoria County History http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=62783.

Detail of Church Wall, St Michael's, Halton
The walls have an unconventional appearance. They are built from squared blocks of sarsen or greyweather stone, probably from near High Wycombe, and the joints are galletted with pieces of flint. See Image
