A short-lived view over the site of the Gospel Hall
The view is similar to Image which was taken in April – before the Gospel Hall was demolished. A house will soon appear where the chapel was.

The Gospel Hall has gone, Buckland Wharf
This old chapel has now been demolished (apart for a short length of wall) and permission has been obtained to build a house on the site. The hedge is actually the steep bank into the canal. Compare with Image – taken about 4 month's earlier.

The Gospel Hall, Buckland Wharf
This tiny chapel is on the bank of the canal and faces onto the road. At the time this photograph was taken there was evidence for building work in progress. Four months later it was demolished see Image and Image For another view before demolition see Image

Buckland Wharf
This is one of a number of old wharves along the largely disused Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal. A huge project is under way managed by the Wendover Arm Trust to dig out and repair the whole length of the arm and make it navigable all the way from Bulborne to Wendover. The view is to the South, where the canal passes under the old A41 near Aston Clinton.

The Gospel Hall, Buckland Wharf
I don't know when this ceased to be a chapel – but I remember there were religious signs outside some 40 years ago – and service times were still published in a guide published in 2002. It was associated with the Christian Brethren (Plymouth Brethren http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_Brethren ). The parish of Buckland is long and narrow and this chapel is only feet from the boundary with Aston Clinton parish. Wendover Arm: Bridge No 6 and the Canal-side Footpath
Because the water level will rise when the connection between Little Tring and Drayton Beauchamp is completed, this bridge will be too low to allow canal barges through. As the road over the bridge is a busy main road this will require a significant amount of work. See Image

Footpath along the Wendover Arm at Buckland Wharf
The canal is used only as a drainage channel at this point, and the water is somewhere under the trees on the right.
