Bifurcated & Tubular Rivet Co Ltd - steam engine
This is an E Reader of Nottingham inverted vertical compound engine direct coupled to a Siemens dynamo (yes - DC). One of two at The Bifurcated & Tubular Rivet Co. Ltd., Mandeville Road, Aylesbury. Installed 1910 and stopped late 70s. One was removed to Kew Bridge Steam Museum in 1987 and this one was removed to Nottingham Industrial Museum in 1989. There was no makers name on the engine but the company stated it was a Reader and an identical machine has been found in a Reader catalogue (QED). The view from this side includes the steam separator with its steam trap and the oil cooler.

This works has long since been demolished and immortalised in Rivets Close. These are a typical pair of Weir boiler feed pumps - duplicated for redundancy. These used to be very common but are now getting increasingly less common.
