The end of the Aylesbury Canal
The canal stops here a short walk from the town centre. It is a branch of the Grand Union Canal, which it joins near Tring.

Grand Union Canal: Aylesbury Arm: Walton Street Basin

Grand Union Canal: Aylesbury Arm: Walton Street Basin
Six years on from Image and the rural nature of the surroundings has been altered dramatically with the development of the basin. At the moment it is all rather bleak and bare. The narrowboat Jaswinda is temporarily moored up on the right.

The Grand Union Canal - Aylesbury Arm
This is the western end of the canal in the centre of Aylesbury, looking west from the Highbridge Road Footbridge No 19. The Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal is six and a quarter miles long and has sixteen locks. It runs west from Marsworth Junction to the centre of Aylesbury.

The Travelodge on the Canal at Aylesbury
This building also includes (on the far side) Waitrose Supermarket. In the foreground is the terminal weir on the Aylesbury canal. The area has completely changed since I photographed it in 2009 - see Image

Bear Brook in Aylesbury
Verdant summer growth virtually covers the brook and it's difficult to imagine that this is near the centre of Aylesbury. Bear Brook is a tributary of the River Thame.
