Aylesbury: The Harrow public house
The pub is located at the junction of Cambridge Street (to the right) and Buckingham Street (to the left), just off the Market Square. According to the pub's excellent website http://www.theharrowpub.co.uk/ it dates back to the 16th century when the building was a farmhouse. In the 17th century it was converted into two public houses, the Harrow and the Barleycorn. Later still it became one large pub called the Farmyard and in May 2004 it had a major refurbishment to become a Firkin Beer Company house and was renamed the Harrow.

A focus of some of the town's nightlife. On the right is a water clock, but it doesn't seem to be working.

John Hampden?s statue in Market Square
This bronze statue of John Hampden 1594-1643 by Henry Fehr stands in Aylesbury Market Square. He lived at Image and was the foremost of Buckinghamshire’s parliamentarians in the run up to the Civil War. His colleague, Arthur Goodwyn, wrote of him, "he was a gallant man, an honest man, an able man, and take all, I know not to any man living second – I would lay it to heart that God takes away the best amongst us". The King's Head, off Market Square, Aylesbury
A pub unusually owned by the National Trust. The alleyways and courtyards that lead to it were apparently characteristic of this area off the Market Square until twentieth-century redevelopment swept most of them away.
