The Kings Hotel, Stokenchurch
Close to the A40.
At first glance this looks like a substantial Georgian building - but looking more closely I found details that reminded me of a 1930's town-hall (and notice the range at the back). The hotel's own web-site says the name commemorates a visit by Charles II. It is possible that the present building incorporates parts of an earlier one, but it is clear from photos on the hotel's website that the building which stood here a century ago was much smaller: http://kingshoteluk.com/history.php.

Kings Hotel fire
The Kings Hotel has lain derelict and abandoned since a huge fire in October 2021 which destroyed the 16th century coaching inn.

Part of the green and the Royal Oak
Stokenchurch has several areas of green. This is one of the smallest, situated behind the shops. The pub stocks Marlow Rebellion beers.
