High Wycombe: Iron Duke public house
There have been licensed premises on this site, at the junction of Duke Street with Totteridge Road, since 1866 when the former High Wycombe Wheeler's Brewery opened the first Iron Duke. The current building, with its solitary Courage sign on the left, dates from the 1930s.

(For reasons that I cannot readily explain I get a continuous mental image of WKRP in Cincinnati, Howard Hesseman as Dr Johnny Fever, Loni Anderson as Jennifer Elizabeth Marlowe, et al, in my mind when I look at this photograph...)

High Wycombe: Station Road subway
The subway joins Station Road with Duke Street under the railway. The gloominess, the mixture of working and non-working lights, rusty railings, and tagging produce an atmosphere of neglect, not, it has to be said, untypical of most subways in the country.
