Masham, Black Sheep Brewery
Masham is notable for such a small town in that it is home to two working breweries, Black Sheep Brewery and Theakstons, situated only a few hundred yards from one another. The Black Sheep Brewery was established by Paul Theakston in 1991 following the takeover of Theakston’s by Scottish and Newcastle (Theakston’s is now back under family ownership http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theakston_Brewery ). The brewery and bistro are housed in the old maltings of the former Lightfoot Brewery.
