Kirkby Malzeard Village
We had a small detour as the road we intended to take to this village was completely severed by road works so we entered the village by this minor road junction.

The Henry Jenkins, Kirkby Malzeard
Named after a local character who is reputed to have lived to the ripe old age of 169! Henry Jenkins died on the 6th December 1670 and is buried at St Mary's, Bolton on Swale near Catterick. His longevity can be partly attributed to regular intake of nettle soup and swims in the River Swale. Excellent Sunday lunches and pints of 'Black Sheep' can be obtained within. Update 2022: The Henry Jenkins has been closed for several years and the building appears to be in a state of decay. One hears rumours of a community buy out, but nothing seems to change.
