Ripon, entrance to Ripon Cathedral School
According to the OS benchmark database there is a benchmark cut into the roadside wall opposite house number 67. The entrance to the school has recently been widened, and it is likely the cutmark has been destroyed during these works. Nothing was found.

St Cuthbert in Ripon
With Cathedral School in the background. The inscription recounts how "St Cuthbert came from Melrose in the 7th century helping to built Ripon's first Monastery on a site close to this school". He later became the Bishop of Lindisfarne.

The House of Correction
Is this where teachers come with pupils homework books and armed with red pens? The House of Correction was built in 1686 and served as Ripon Liberty Prison, and later as the police station for many years. It is now a private house.
