The House of Correction
Is this where teachers come with pupils homework books and armed with red pens?
The House of Correction was built in 1686 and served as Ripon Liberty Prison, and later as the police station for many years. It is now a private house.

The Police & Prison Museum served as a prison from 1686 to 1879 and as a police station from 1880 to 1959. It contains many exhibits on policing in Yorkshire and the early prison service - including this demonstration of how a prisoner could be restrained.

Ripon Prison Museum
This building, also known as Dean's Croft, dates from c.1685 and has an interesting history as set out in the list description (grade 2*, entry 1315485). Originally and until 1878 a "house of correction" (perhaps not quite the same as a prison as we now know it), it later served as a grain store, Police Station, private house (1958-1972) and now a museum.
