Old milepost
On the B6265, Ripley Bank, descending into Pateley Bridge is one of the few mileposts and milestones in England, Scotland and Wales with an 0 mileage. This style of milepost was cast at the foundry of J Ingram in Ripon. The Ripon to Pateley Bridge turnpike was first enacted in 1756 but this style of post was probably made in the mid to late 19C. Five of the 9 posts on this route are still in situ.
