I was rather expecting waterfalls, but the stream descends gently. Its bed is littered with boulders.

Stepping stones across Dean Dike on the Kirklees Way, Hepworth
All the crossings upstream of here are by footbridge. The map shows a footpath crossing the valley here, but I could not see it. There is a blocked footpath gate at the Dean Lane end of the 'path'.

Footbridge over Dean Dike on the Kirklees Way, Hepworth
Bringing in the materials and tools to make this and the other bridges must have been very laborious, as the path is far too rough for a vehicle, even a wheelbarrow.
