Stone Memorial on Towngate
This was erected in 1801 to commemorate the short peace called the Peace of Amiens. There is also a line showing the height of the flood caused by the bursting of the Bilberry Reservoir on Feb 5th, 1842, when 81 lives were lost.

All aboard for Compo's grave
This old bus waits on Town Gate to take sightseers on a 45-minute tour of the famous spots seen in BBC's Last of the Summer Wine TV series. Amongst other attractions it visits Wesley Pegden's garage and Compo's last resting place. All for six quid.
