The Mechanics' Institute is centre stage. There used to be a nice traditional sweet (boiled variety) shop somewhere on the left. The white Nissan Micra on the left was my first car.

Brougham Road, Marsden
A narrow road that forks off the A62 and leads to the town centre. The mill building on the right has a row of bulbous pilasters on the front, and a nice cornice at the top; a pity it doesn't run along the side too, but perhaps it was assumed that there would be a similar building alongside. At the end of the road is the distinctive Mechanics Institute clock tower.

Marsden Nursery School on site of Chapel, Brougham Road ,Marsden
This chapel was sandwiched between a school and the town hall, and has now been redeveloped as a nursery school. The chapel is shown on the 1850 six-inch map as 'Methodist (Wesleyan).
