Looking east along Carr Lane, Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. The restored Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs along a new channel behind the railings on the right.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal, Slaithwaite
Now restored for navigation. This stretch through Slaithwaite had been culverted (in the 1970s I think) and had to be re-excavated. A fine job has been made. This was the first time I had seen this and was on a walk along the Yorkshire side of the canal before Standedge Tunnel

Mills, Slaithwaite
Two big mill buildings still intact. The one on the right is Globe Mills, and the one on the left, in SE0813, is I think called Brook Mill. Both were woollen mills. The River Colne runs down the left of the view, and the buildings in the foreground are a redevelopment of industrial land.
