A strange design of stile, as the step does not seem to be necessary. The waller has carved his initials and the date on a large block of stone.

Bottom of Brookfoot Lane, Southowram
This is taken from the same position as the photo with the lorries on the steep hill http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/169832, but looking east down to the junction of Brookfoot Lane and Elland Road. The factory buildings on the left have been refurbished and are looking rather smart. The stile in another photo http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/170364 is next to the poster hoarding in the distance, over the Red Beck into Brighouse.
