Block of flats, Bradford Road, Brighouse
Built in the 1990s, an interesting example of post-modern architecture. What fascinates me is the gable-end on the left, which seems to have in the stonework various lines and rectangles in relief. This is because windows were intended, although they were not shown on the approved plans so had to be omitted. The site was previously occupied by a large detached bungalow. See also another photo from the rear (Old Lane).

Block of flats, Bradford Road, seen from Old Lane, Brighouse
This photo shows the semi-circular tower against the north wall, presumably with a staircase inside. The sort of neo-medieval feature that architects were producing in the early 20C.

Lane Court No.1, Bonegate Road, Brighouse
Short terraces of houses at right-angles to the road were a way of getting more houses into the plot. Sometimes this was overdone, and the rows of houses were too close together with no gardens, just a shared yard. In this case there is plenty of space in front of the houses, so they escaped the slum clearances of the 1960s.

Lane Court No.2, Bonegate Road, Brighouse
Different from Lane Court No.1 in that the space is used for a yard or street rather than gardens and a narrow lane.

Old Lane, Brighouse
Here Old Lane branches off to the right from Bonegate Road. It perhaps got its name after the turnpike road to Bradford was constructed on a parallel line. The house on the left is now a nursery.

Oldgate House, junction of Old Lane and Bonegate Road, Brighouse
The name seems to be a hybrid from the two road-names. It is dated 2004. Not many new houses have a clock on the front wall.
