Old canopies, Armytage Road, Clifton
Both houses have the same type, so the iron brackets are probably the original ones from the 19C. Perhaps the perforated wooden sides are also as old as that. These properties were owned by (and probably built by) the Brighouse Co-operative Society Ltd. Across the yard at the back of these dwellings a building, probably now demolished, housed the Society's slaughterhouse on the ground floor and their cabinet works (joiners shop) on the first floor! In the mid to late 1980s the houses were divided into bedsits.

Arthur Street, Clifton, Brighouse
This is an unadopted street, giving access to industrial premises. The building on the right is part of the former Brighouse drill hall, now incorporated into Wakefield House.

Former drill hall, Arthur Street, Clifton, Brighouse
This was built between the 1907 and 1922 1:2500 maps, probably around 1914. There were two parallel buildings. This one is shown as extending nearer to Wakefield Road, and the far end has apparently been covered in cladding, which also covers an ornate doorway.

Filling Station, Wakefield Road (A644), Clifton
This is supposed to be on the site of Alegar Well, which is shown on the 1850 six-inch map as being next to the road on the south side. However by my reckoning it was further to the east, in centisquare 27.
