Leys farmhouse, Longwood
Nice to find a farmhouse that has not been 'gentrified'. The stile seems redundant now, and the gate looks as if it has been moved from between the gateposts.

Longwood Compensation Reservoir. Longwood
This was constructed in the early 19C in conjunction with the water supply reservoirs up the hillside to the SW. Its function is to store stream-water so as to maintain a steady flow throughout the year. This was particularly important when there were several mills downstream in the valley. The houses in the distance are on Lamb Hall Road (SE1017).

Causeway across Longwood Compensation Reservoir, Longwood
This causeway cuts across the upper part of the reservoir in a smooth curve. It was probably constructed to maintain the old access lane to Leys Farm; a mere footpath would surely have been diverted around the head of the reservoir? The houses in the distances are on Lamb Hall Road.
