Witley: All Saints Church
There has been a church on this site since the 7th century, and the nave and some windows are Saxon. The church was gradually extended and the spire was added in the late 14th century. The Church has an excellent website, with a comprehensive history, here http://www.allsaintswitley.org.uk/index.php

Witley Church of England Infants' School
Located opposite Image in Church Lane, the School was established in 1836, as the tablet in the left side gable end bears witness. The School's excellent informative website is here http://www.witley.surrey.sch.uk/homedir/about.htm The ornate white gates in the foreground are for the entrance to the Church. The 1881 Census records a National School as the next entry to the Vicarage, so I am presuming that this was the School. If that supposition is correct then the occupants of the School then were: Henry BOWLER, Head of the Household, Married, Age 38, Born Great Marlow, Bucks, Occupation School Master Annie BOWLER, His wife, Age 30, Born Great Marlow, Bucks, Occupation School Mistress Eliza BOWLER, His mother, Widow, Age 67, Born Great Marlow, Bucks, Occupation Annuitant Elizabeth BOWLER, His sister, unmarried, Age 31, Born Great Marlow, Bucks, Occupation School Mistress

Mosaic, at Witley Church of England Infants' School
Very eye-catching, and positioned so that it can easily be seen by passers by. A terrific achievement on the part of the school's youngsters, but I have been unable to find any reference to it on the web, so I can't say how recently the project was carried out.
