West Clandon Serpent
The village sign is at the southern extremity of The Street, in a grassy roundabout on the Epsom Road. The sign shows a dog attacking a serpent which was said to have been a local terror. A condemned soldier was pardoned when he killed the serpent which was being held by his dog, so the story goes.
