Carousel, 1 Kings Road, Shalford
A toy shop which also sells video games. It was established in Shalford over ten years ago, at a time when most of the village shops had closed. The success of Carousel seems to have encouraged others to open here, so there are now a small number of shops trading here.

Diamond Jubilee water fountain
Water fountain alongside Horsham Road in Shalford by its junction with Kings Road. For a wider view, see Image The fountain was erected to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. For a close up of the plaque on the front, which reads "This Fountain erected by the people of Shalford commemorates the completion of the sixtieth year of the reign of Queen Victoria", see Image The lower plaque reads "Restored by Salford Parish Council Centenary Year 1995" (presumably the centenary was of the council not the fountain).

Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee commemorative fountain, Horsham Road, Shalford
Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee (sixty years on the throne) in 1897. This drinking fountain and trough was erected by local people to commemorate the event. The Queen died early in 1901. Image

Plaque on Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee commemorative fountain, Horsham Road, Shalford
The plaque explains that the fountain commemorates the completion of the 60th year of the reign of Queen Victoria. This was in 1897. One hundred and fifteen years later, in 2012, Queen Elizabeth II her great great grand-daughter also celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. Image
