No 76017 running round at Alton
One of the terminal stations of the Mid-Hants Railway. No. 76017 is a British Railways standard class 4 2-6-0 tender engine that was built at Horwich in 1953. It is privately owned but based on the Mid Hants Railway. A total of 999 of the various BR standard classes were built up to 1960. To the right of the locomotive is a Rapier steam breakdown crane.

Two railways divided by a fence
On the left, Network Rail, with Southwest Trains providing a service towards Waterloo. On the right, the Mid Hants Railway, a heritage line from here to Alresford. On the left, four car unit 450 071 heads out with the 13:44 departure. On the right, U class 31806 running round its train before returning to Alresford with the 14:00 departure.

Mid Hants Railway sidings at Alton
These are the sidings of the Mid Hants Railway, just north of Alton station. Beyond the fence to the left are the Network Rail tracks, used by South West Trains for services to London (Waterloo).

"Wadebridge"
Bulleid light pacific locomotive "Wadebridge" on the Watercress line at Alton. This was a private 'footplate experience' day for some lucky chap, and the railway was not open to the public. The locomotive, a streamlined 'West Country' class designed by O V S Bulleid was built in 1945. Details of the locomotive are at http://www.wadebridge34007.co.uk/
