End of the line, Alton
Alton is now the terminus of a branch line served by trains from and to London's Waterloo station. The line used to continue beyond Alton to Winchester. The section from Alton to Alresford has been preserved as a heritage railway, known as the Watercress Line.

Watercress Line Water Tower at Alton Railway Station
The water tower serves the steam locomotives of the heritage Mid-Hants Railway at Alton Station. It was originally in use at Farnham in Surrey.
