A new use for the slaughterhouse
For many years now it has been a doctors' surgery. In more recent history: 1st August 2023, the world's oceans reach a new record high temperature of 20.96°C; 8th August, 17,000 acres of land in Maui, Hawaii are burned and at least 115 people are killed; 15th, more than 3,000 people have been evacuated from the Spanish Canary Island of Tenerife as wildfires blaze; 21st August, nurse Lucy Letby sentenced to whole life tariff for murdering 7 babies and the attempted murder of 6 others; 23rd, Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin dies in a plane crash; and 30th, in Gabon the military stages a coup to end the rule of the Bongo family after 56 years in power
