The Angel Inn, North Street, Midhurst
Despite the signs, this Grade II Listed hotel and public house names itself a 17th century Coaching Inn. The listing declares it to be 18th century with 19th century alterations. Midhurst Historic Character Assessment places it in the 17th century being re-fronted in the 18th. It reputedly hosted many of the Pilgrim Fathers, on their way from London and East Anglia to Plymouth. In the 19th century petty sessions for the hundred were held here. For a short while H G Wells’s mother was housekeeper here. In February 2018 it was described as newly refurbished. Directory entries include, 1832-1839 Gawen Gosden (posting house), 1851-1855 John Gosden (posting house), 1858-1859 John Russell (posting house), 1866-1878 John Parker (posting + brewer), 1890-1899 Henry Murphy (agent for the London & South Western railway), 1905 Francis Humfrey, 1911 John Boyce and 1915 Maurice B Calver.

Miss Marple lives on- in Midhurst
Taken in North Street. Not many places actually have a "Ye Olde Tea Shoppe". Shame not to have it in gothic script to complete the stereotype.
